“The mind-body connection – it’s not science fiction, it’s science fact” says Judith. We accept, from the medical fraternity, that ‘stress’ is a major cause of such illnesses as heart disease. Particularly since the 1970’s, numerous mainstream scientific studies have confirmed that the mind is instrumental in both healing the body, or in harming it.
To illustrate the body-mind connection Judith quotes a fascinating study undertaken at Stanford University in the 1990s which is outstanding in its clear results:
Researchers took DNA samples from students. Each student was told to remember the worst thing that had ever happened to them. While the student remembered this terrible event, the researchers observed the DNA from that particular student, using an electron microscope.
As they watched, they witnessed the student’s DNA being damaged – by thought alone!
When taken through a process to release the trauma which they had been remembering, the researchers watched as the DNA repaired itself.
There is no more glaring proof of the mind-body connection. Our physical health is impacted by our mind! We know that our blood pressure goes up when we are angry and frustrated and we know that our immune systems are weakened by stress.
The mind impacts the body. You can learn how to use your mind to assist your body – it’s amazing…
